Up North

View from the porch of our room.

On the pier.
Our view from the Pier. Guy wind surfing.

John's wedding attire.
Johnny had his first trip up north last weekend. We went up to Frankfort for our friend's wedding. We were only planning on staying Saturday night, but we liked it so much we stayed another day. We loved the resort we stayed at- it was right on Lake Michigan. The weather was great. It was windy but still sunny. We saw people wind-surfing which looks like something I should try. The leaves were beautiful.

The Pumpkin Contest

The finalists. I'm telling you. We know what pumpkins weigh. It was rigged!
Johnny got his eye color from his Aunt Suzee.......
Opa and his boys.

There was a contest at the local Full City Cafe where one would guess the weight of the giant pumpkin, and the finalists were called on Monday and had to show up on Wednesday to hear the winner announced. To be a finalist, you had to guess the weight of the pumpkin within 5 lbs. Joe had guessed 78 lbs and I had guessed 79 lbs. I was so excited when they left me a message stating I was one of the finalists, and that I might win the $100 gift certificate. I was excited until I realized that they also called Joe and my dad, oh and our friend Liz. It seems everyone is a finalist. Being the optimists, we decided to go anyways, hoping that since there were 3 finalists within our family, one of us had a good shot at that $100. When we got there it was so crowded and hard to get a table. Apparently there were A LOT of finalists! I went with Joe, John, my dad, Suzee and Tal. None of us won, but we did get a coupon for a free piece of pumpkin pie with a purchase of something. The correct weight was 74 lbs. Anyways, it was fun.
